Brian Maxfield

Clinical Director


As Clinical Director of Community and Family Counseling Services, Brian oversees the delivery of outpatient services to children, adolescents, and adults at our clinic and at locations throughout Greater Lowell. Brian joined MHA in 2003 as Clinical Director following more than two decades of service in the fields of mental health, substance abuse and developmental disabilities.

Brian provides clinical leadership to ensure that those served by our outpatient program are receiving high quality care based in science and guided by best practice and focused on outcomes. In recent years, he has overseen the implementation of the electronic health record for all clinic services, the development of Project CARE and the Cambodian Mutual Assistance Association outreach project, and the implementation of universal evidence-based assessments for all individuals seen in the clinic.

Brian’s Bachelor’s Degree is from Fitchburg State University and his Master’s Degree in social work is from Salem State University. He is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker.
